Arequipa is the starting point for excursions to the Colca Canyon, the best place to appreciate the flight of the condor in its natural environment and the Cotahuasi Canyon, the deepest of Peru.
Surrounded by volcanoes it is known as the white city because of the type of volcanic stone that they used for it's construction.
